102 miles by May 28

This lovely little combination pushed me through 8 miles at the gym today.  Which brings my total for May to my goal and even past it.  Woohoo.  

Yesterday I knew I was on the brink of reaching my 100 mile Monthly goal.  May was the first time I had ever done it, or even knew it existed.  Then I though, well I am not done I want to keep going.  I don’t want just to belong to this national Facebook group with a bunch of other people who have also committed to 100 miles in the month, who I am sure are great people, but the group itself is adding nothing to my life.  After I got home from the gym yesterday I decided to start my own community on Facebook, this could be a project for me, a commitment, but most of all fun.

Now for the honesty, I started a “community” when in fact I meant to start a “group”!  LOL.  So now in turn, I have made both.  I think that’s OK.  They can be used by different people in different ways, but hopefully some of my friends and family will enjoy going on this journey with me.  My favorite thing to say now and days when it comes to working out, or trainings in my professional life is “this is a judgement free zone, like Planet Fitness”.  I am not here to judge if you do 2 or 200 miles next month, if they are all done by walking or some combination of running and biking.  I want to build a team of encouragement for anyone who needs it, for my friends and family as well as their friends and family.

By the time I went to bed last night I had 27 likes of the community page and 40 members of the group.  At work yesterday I even had coworkers who said…..”my friends want to know about this 100 monthly miles”, great tell them to join too.  The more the merrier.

Taking care of yourself should be priority one and often times it’s not.  It gets easy to put your husband, kids, work and just about everything else under the sun first.  In my experience, the better I feel as a result of eating, sleeping and exercising the “better” I am in the rest of my life.  I wake up before everyone else in my house, to have my “me” time.  In about 45 minutes I have started taking care of myself in the right way for the day.  Which then givens me the other 16+ hours I am awake to focus on the rest of my life.
