Workout reading:  Is everyone hanging out without me by Mindy Kaling and Workout listening: Hip Hop BBQ on Pandora.  Currently watching: Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars (shocking that it’s reality TV, I know)!

In the month of May I joined a Facebook group with the challenge of walking/running 100+ miles during the month.  I took on that challenge, finished it with 4 days to spare and then ended up exceeding it by a few miles.  On April 27th I made the promise to myself to purposefully move every day for 100 days.  This didn’t have to be a specific amount of miles, just to get moving, somehow and someway every day.  Above and beyond my “normal” activity of course.

As the month of May wound down I didn’t want to lose this momentum I had been building.  I decided to start both a community and group on Facebook #100milesmonthly.  The hope was that I could get a few of my friends on a board, some friends who are currently active and others who may want to be, but just need some encouragement.  To my very pleasant surprise, I have 40 members of the group and 31 likes of the community.  Even friends of friends have wanted to join.

The group that I joined in May was very specific that the 100 miles had to be walking/running.  I say F#€* that.  I say if you move 100miles, it’s 100 miles.  Swim, Run, Bike, Walk….just move.  I am hoping that this group helps, encourages and supports each other through this month.  That accepting this challenge of 100miles this month, might lead to 100 miles in July and even more after that.

I have so many friends who I already know are amazing.  Friends that inspired me to do this in the first place, friends that inspire me to keep going, friends whom I move for because sometimes they just can’t.  When I start running I saw a shirt that said this “Someday I won’t be able to run….today is NOT that day.”  Today is not that day, today I can move and today I WILL move.
