This morning I woke up at 4:12am, then I rolled back over because I had 48 more minutes to sleep. A little while later, I opened my eyes and my clock said 5:20. Oh no, my alarm had been going off for 20 minutes and I didn’t hear it. As a matter of fact, I still couldn’t hear it.
My son, must have turned the volume down. The alarm clock is a sound machine that Noah plays with all the time. Any way, I could have used this 20 minutes as an excuse not to go, but I didn’t. I had planned last night to go to the gym, so that’s what I was going to do.
My clock is set 10 minutes fast. So, usually I am waking for the gym around 4:50 and out the door by 5. This morning, I changed as fast as I could. When I got in the car it was 5:16 and at the gym at 5:20. I typically am at the gym for about 30 minutes, today, I was only there for about 15.
I changed my typical workout routine, so that I could still be home around the same time I usually am. So, for today that meant 3 miles on the bike instead of 5 or 6. Only a few songs on Pandora and 1 chapter in my book.
It would have been easier to stay in bed. To make the excuse that since I was already 20 minutes behind schedule that I should just stay home. This morning I made the better choice, the right choice to start my day. I planned on going to the gym, so I went.
