Well today is the first day of Lent!!
Since Lent of 2012 Paul and I have given up Fast food for Lent. For him it is a bigger deal than for me. Paul could/would eat fast food everyday, possibly more than once a day. I on the other hand might eat fast food once a week, more like once every two weeks.
However, the part of fast food that is difficult for me to give up is the soda. Particularly McDonalds diet coke. My favorite. So, since 2012 I have also given up soda for Lent.
I have a couple of fun stories related to me giving up soda for Lent. Two years ago when I still worked in the day care, a friend of mine had a bottle of soda out on the counter. I went and reached for the bottle and out of habit took a sip, as soon as the bubbly deliciousness hit my tongue, I was like “oh crap.” So, I ran over and spit it out into the sink. Pretty Funny!!!
Last year, we were out for my step-sons birthday. A bunch of us sitting at a table, my husband had a giant cup of soda and the kids had the same giant cup with lemonade. I grabbed the cup that I thought was lemonade and sure enough it was Paul’s soda. With a mouth full of pop, I navigated my way out of the restaurant, made it outside and spit my pop into the bushes. A little more embarrassing this time, but still hilarious.
Anyway, again this year I will be giving up soda and fast food starting today, until Easter!! This year I have decided to do something different though. I am also going to choose 2 thing TO DO during lent. The first is working out 40 times throughout lent. This will be a combination of gym time and youtube exercises. Secondly, I will do the #40notesin40days. Some of them will be blogs, some will be hand written mail and others will be emails. Here is the #40notesin40days project.
