A to Z Challenge: F stands for Fleetwood Mac

The band for today is Fleetwood Mac.  I remember my uncle introducing them to me when I was like 7 or 8 years old.  He played a tape in his brand new escort and I thought he was so cool.

I fell in love from the very start.  First and foremost, Stevie Nicks has one of the most captivating voices I have ever heard.  The first song that I remember hearing was “Seven Wonders”, which still to this day I don’t believe is one of their better songs, but it is still my favorite.

Now I own multiple albums, have many songs on my Ipod and still can’t get enough of them when they come on the radio.  “The Chain” is a great song.  “Go Your Own Way”, “Dreams”, “You Make Loving Fun” and “Don’t Stop” can all be found on the Rumours album.  If you are only going to listen to one album of theirs, this should be the one.

One of the most popular of Fleetwood Mac’s songs is “Landslide”.  Such a beautiful and emotional song, redone by some other amazing artists as the years have gone by.  “Rhiannon” should also be listened to as this is Stevie Nicks “signature” song.

In short, Fleetwood Mac is wonderful.  Some slow, sultry songs and some fast tempo upbeat songs.  A mix of male and female singers a career spanning many decades.

Here is a verse from “Seven Wonders”.  It is my favorite, think I will listen to it on my way to work today!

So long ago
It’s a certain time
It’s a certain place
You touched my hand and you smiled
All the way back you held out your hand
If I hope and I pray
Ooh it might work out someday
If I live to see the seven wonders
I’ll make a path to the rainbow’s end
I’ll never live to match the beauty again

  1. Really love this series, I love almost all the bands you have mentioned so far, so I’m interested to see what you’re going to write about next. Landslide is my favourite fleetwood Mac song 🙂
