I was fortunate enough to participate in the Kindness Challenge 2016. To read more about it click here.
I like to think that I do kind things regularly. Sometimes, I can’t wait to tell people about them, but most of the time I keep my mouth shut about them.
Isn’t that the art of being a wife and a mother? LOL. It is my job to do kind things for all of these people, but if I go around talking about it all the time, then I’m a martyr. The thing that I have learned over the last 10 years too, is that just because you see something as kind, doesn’t mean that the other person even notices the kindness. The attempt, the time, the energy and the thought that goes into those kind things that you are doing.
Reflecting on my week, I can think of a few kind things that I did that made a big impact. Things that I didn’t say anything to anyone about. Things that I would have typically done and I’m not sure if I would normally say something or not.
I think what I want to focus on the most after this challenge is that kindness is always happening. Maybe not in the way that you want it to, or in a way that makes sense to you, but that is OK! It is important to be aware that just because you think you are being kind, doesn’t mean that others view it that way.
Just because the challenge is over, doesn’t mean that the reflecting on Kindness has to stop. There is a lot of negative, hate and scary S#*! happening in this world, so when you can think about the good, spread the love!
