What it is like to be a teenager in 2016
Being a teenager in 2016… what is it like?
Teenagers today are some of the most misunderstood and pressured age group ever. Stress faced by exams, the impending doom of not being able to fit it, not getting enough likes on social media; whatever it is being a teenager growing up in today’s society is hard.
Hi, my name is Ellie and my blog is elliecatherineblog, I have just started my blog for one reason, I thought it would be a good place to share my tips I have learnt growing up coming towards the end of being a teenager and of course to talk about travelling, which I am very passionate about.
I’m not going to lie, being a teenager has its ups and downs, being negatively looked upon in society, like when I get asked if I am a mum when I’m out with my brother or any child, where these people are presuming I’m a teenage mum (that or I just look really old!). There’s also the negative connotations of all teenagers being substance abusers or uneducated or lazy, well wouldn’t you be tired if you had to juggle the stress of exams with a ton of homework and trying to keep up a social life. Don’t even get me started on mental health, the amount of youngsters who are so ill from pressure that they are faced by in society, to look a certain way, to get certain grades, to be a good role model. However, it’s not all doom and gloom, being a teenager also has its ups, the parties, some of the freedom you gain from being allowed out with your friends, not having to have a job (at least not for the most part!) and no matter what judgement your faced with at the time, you will look back on these days as the best time of your life.
