More Time in the New Year

Here it is the first Monday in 2017.  The first time that I am posting for Making Time For Me Monday.

This will be the space where I talk about how I managed to get some ME time in this busy household.  What does my ME time look like?  And what is most important to me when I get a few minutes to myself!!

Today though, I am going to tell you about the promises that I have made to myself for 2017.  These promises have to do with me and only me.  I wrote in a journal the things that I hope to accomplish in 2017 that I haven’t been making time for.

Running-  I let running really go over the last 6 years.  I was running nearly everyday for about a year and then I just stopped.  I loved how I felt when I was running regularly and how I looked.  I have made a promise to start running again, for me.  Time to listen to my music or podcasts, think about life and just take in some fresh air.  Running in the gym doesn’t work for me.  I hate treadmills.  I love running on the streets in my neighborhood.  I registered for the Detroit Free Press International Half-Marathon yesterday and will be running it in October.  I hope to register for a few more runs in 2017 as well.

Gym-  I am going to set my alarm and go to the gym.  I wake up with my husband at 5:45 every morning, well over an hour before I need to start getting ready.  I need to start setting my own alarm though to wake up at 5, go to the gym for a half hour and be back home at 5:45.  I need to start moving every day.  Weights, Cardio, Weight Loss.  Again, I can listen to my own music and read on my Ipad.

Reading- In 2015 I read over 50 books.  I only read 30 in 2016.  I want to read more.  The gym will help with that.  The more I go to the gym, the more that I read.  The more interesting the book is, the longer I will work out because I don’t want to put the book down.  It really is a WIN-WIN.  I better go download some good books to my Ipad now while I am thinking about it.

Love- I give hugs, I tell people I love them, I offer to help and sometimes it is overwhelming to those around me.  Well, guess what?  I don’t care.  I am going to love. Whenever I feel moved to say it or show it, it is going to happen.  Be prepared and just accept it.

Friends-  I have some friends that I haven’t seen for years.  Life just gets in the way and I refuse to let that continue through 2017.  Friends who have children that I haven’t ever met or haven’t spent time with since they were babies.  Also my two besties who I don’t make enough time to purposefully see, just bump into them at church every once in awhile.  Well NOT in 2017.  I want to get on the phone with them more often.  I want to know more about their day to day and what is happening in their lives.

I spend a lot of time focusing on my roles as Wife and Mother!  Both jobs that I Love and I am truly blessed to have.  In order to give my all in those roles though, I need to take care of Stephanie first.  Fuel myself, nuture and cherish myself so that I can give my all to the most important people in my world!!

What about you?  How are you making more time for you in 2017?  I want to hear it!
