I’m a thirteen year old, teenage girl from India. Being a teenager is heartbreaking. When you are a child, everything goes in your way, you are small, innocent. For you, the whole world is perfect. You are so involved in you and your small world that you don’t have time to look out of it and think about something else but as soon as you become a teen, you start getting a taste of real life. Your small, beautiful, perfect worlds starts becoming wider, uglier and imperfect.
You start thinking about others. You start developing insecurities. There comes a lot of problems that you can never find solutions of. You feel like you are standing alone against the whole world. All the problems of the world are kept on your weak shoulders. Things start to change. People start to change.
Not only your studies get harder but also your life too. You become moody and depressed. For maybe some teenagers, teenage life would be perfect, but for people like me, it’s hard. It’s a struggle, to fit in, to get good grades, to be cool, to find yourself, to be yourself.
Being a teenager, there are many times, your heart will break. Your heart will break when you expect your friend to call yo and you wait everyday but the call doesn’t come, your heart will break when you, for the first time, fall for someone but the same feelings aren’t reciprocated. Your heart breaks when you let all your walls down for someone but the same is not done by the other person. Your heart breaks when you try your best to fit in, to be perfect, to solve all your problems but you just can’t. And every time your heart breaks, you hear a shattering sound, and vow to never fall for someone, to never let your heart break again but you do the same mistake all over again and again your heart shatters.
But it’s life and at the end of the day, it is beautiful. No matter how many problems come, how many times your poor heart breaks, how many times you fall, you need to stand back again and shout at all those problems that they can never get you no matter how much they try because you are the best. We should never forget believing that there is a ray of hope at the end of tunnel and no matter what, the light is never going to fade away.
There are many beautiful memories that a teenager makes, memories that are going to be there for a lifetime. As we grow up, we get used to these problems and know how to tackle them but as a teenager, when an innocent child gets exposed to this big, cunning world, hearts are bound to break.
There are many beautiful things about teenage life, like school, friendship, love, affection. There are a lot of ups and downs but without any doubt it’s a fantastic journey from a small innocent world to a big, beautiful world. As a teenager, we get a lot of scars but instead of regretting them and hating them, we should cherish them because scars are a huge part of who you are. Teenage life isn’t perfect but it is imperfect as it should be because I think perfect is way overrated. Perfect is boring and mundane. So, I really it’s heartbreaking to be a teenager in 2017 but I still love it.
Teenage years are turbulent. When I think of the ups and downs of mine….

The struggle is real. Is through the struggle that you improve and become a better person I think. I also think that what you go through as a teenager, you go through your entire life. It’s just that it all seems so terrible when you’re young, it really isn’t that terrible. It’s not, I promise. You learn to look at things with new perspectives as you get older and like you say, it’s all good. Later on, more and more happens and with that awesome brain and heart of yours, you’re well equipped for whatever comes next 😊
