Last September I was fortunate enough to be a part of a Yoga class at my old employer. I got to schedule and plan the entire day, meet with the instructor and participate. I was very hesitant at first, as yoga isn’t really my thing.
After participating for a couple of hours that day and not being made to feel like I was a failure, I thought man Yoga could be really good for me. After that my yoga mat and blanket were hanging out in the back of my closet. Around the beginning of the year, I decided to start trying to do it more often.
I wake up at the same time as my husband in the morning. But, usually have a couple of hours to myself to get my “fringe hours” in before I need to do things for the kids and get life for school/work ready. Well, I would do yoga here and there, but still found reason to not dedicate time every day to it.
That is until my summer started. The summer of not working full time, of taking time for myself and focusing on some tough things that I have been putting on the back burner. I started with True 30 days of Yoga with Adriene. By the way, Adriene is on YouTube and she is fantastic. She will help you to love yourself if you don’t already! She is on YouTube so you can practice yoga from the comfort of your own home any time of day.
I try to practice pretty early in the morning. Typically after allowing myself 1 cup of coffee and 1 tv show. I put my Young Living Essential Oils in my diffuser and I pull my yoga mat out of my closet. Every Single Day!! I made it a priority and man oh man am I glad that I have.
Well, I finished the True yoga series and can say without doubt that I will definitely do that series again sometime! It is so powerful, helped me to get stronger and to get into touch with some feelings from deep down. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do next. Adriene has some other 30 day series, so I could go that route. Or…she also makes monthly calender’s with a variety of her yoga practices scheduled for each day.
My friend Jess sent me the August one giving me suggestion on where to start after my True journey. Here is what it looks like:
In case you feel so inclined…here is her website too..Yoga With Adriene, check it out really!!
I started this month in the middle because I had been doing the True journey. Anyway, yesterday was Yoga for Migraines. I didn’t have a migraine, thank goodness…that being said, I had done this practice before when I really did wake up with a headache and it worked wonders. About 2 seconds into my practice, my 5 year old started watching and I asked him if he wanted to join me.
It was wonderful sharing this experience with him. He asked me at bedtime if I do yoga every morning, I said yes. Then I asked if he would like to join me for today’s practice? Noah said that he wasn’t sure yet, but we shall see!
Yoga Every Day!
