Day 15…A mystery I am thankful for. God, that is my answer. Now some of you may say that my faith in God must not be strong if I think it is a mystery, but I don’t believe that is true. We know this life, these stories from the church and from the bible, but it still is so mysterious. Ideas from long ago that you have to allow yourself to believe in without seeing. I am thankful every day for this mysterious, wondrous God that I put my faith into!
Day 16…Something happening tomorrow that I am thankful for. Well, this should have been for Friday. On Friday I would have said that Saturday we were celebrating Thanksgiving at my home with 17 people. I cooked the feast and I couldn’t have been more excited. It is an honor to have space where people can gather, have fun, be fed and feel loved.
Day 17…A sacred space I am thankful for. My bed! Yup, that is it. My bed is for my husband and I, literally the only space that we have that is just ours and I love it. Our children have never slept with us. It is not something that I feel is healthy for anyone and certainly would be easy to make a habit out of, but then so hard to break the habit. Paul and I ALWAYS go to bed together when we are both home. Even if it means I go to bed a little later then I want to or he goes to bed a little earlier than he wants to, we go together. We also spend some time together in the morning, catching up, drinking coffee and enjoying each others company and I couldn’t be more grateful for this space.
Day 18.. An act of kindness I am thankful for. Yesterday my sweet 9 year old daughter did a lot of helpful things without me asking her to. She took care of her younger brother, got him where he needed to go with snacks while I was helping a friend. Jordan sweetly took care of a friend’s children while we were getting ready for church. She sat on my lap and just let me hold her for a few minutes because she was going to be headed for her Dad’s for 10 days and I was going to be missing her. Jordan is one of the most helpful and motherly 9 year olds I have ever met.
Day 19…A book I am thankful for. 100 Days to Brave by Annie F. Downs. This is a devotional that I read earlier this year. Every time I turned the page it spoke to a different place of my heart. It helped me to know that I needed to make a change and that everything would be OK. I encourage anyone who is at a crossroads in their life to pick up this devotional because I truly believe it will help you find your path.
