I am on day 28 of my 30 day yoga journey. Yoga makes me feel different than anything else I have ever actively participated in. It makes me feel connected, powerful and strong. I am sure that there are a million people out there who like some other yoga practice better, but my favorite is Yoga with Adriene. On YouTube, I can do it on my time, I do it by myself, but know that there are many people around the world doing the practice alongside me.
Today the theme is Dedicate. Which is the overall theme of the 30 day practice as well. Taking the time for yourself. Dedicating time to take care of yourself. That it isn’t selfish, but necessary. We can’t take care of those around us if we don’t take care of ourselves. When we start with self-care then we are giving a better version of ourselves to our family, the community and the world.
This is why I start my day with yoga. Even if there are days where I would rather sleep longer, or watch TV first thing, I make sure that I get to the mat before I really have to start my day. When I start my day caring for me, it trickles through the rest of the day. Not only does it keep me motivated to eat better, drink my water and remain centered throughout the day. It also helps me stay balanced and more calm with my family.
Dedicate some time for yourself. It isn’t selfish, it is self-care and you deserve it.
