Our Family #thisis38

In 5 days most of our family is headed to Florida.

This includes my husband Paul, our six children, myself, sister and her 2 kids in one vehicle. My parents in another. Paul’s parents are flying down. Then lastly his brother, girlfriend and daughter.

The 18 of us are staying at 2 different places like 20 minutes apart from each other.

Yesterday we spent time talking to a lot of people, trying to get some things planned and figured out. Not only do we have 18 people headed down to Florida, but we had 3 other households we have to coordinate our children’s time with.

5 other parents giving up their time, helping us make it happen and working alongside us the last 15 months to make sure the kids have the vacation of a lifetime.

Paul and I are SOOOOO lucky. We both have parents whose main happiness in this world is seeing their grandchildren enjoy life. Not everyone is so lucky to plan a vacation where both sides of the family will be attending. In addition to our parents being incredible, we’ve somehow managed to have quality co-parenting relationships with our kids other parents.

Respectful, loving and kind relationships. Taking time to check in, asking opinions, sharing concerns and spreading love. In the last 48 hours I’ve texted with two of them ending the conversation with an I love you text and became Facebook friends with another. We’re doing something right.

Yesterday while the hubs was on the phone with my Mother in Law she said something to this effect “you fell into a pile of shit and came up smelling like roses.” In our past Paul and I have been in a few piles of shit, we have worked our asses off though and thankfully it smells more like roses now!

I absolutely LOVE our family. Both sets of our parents, our 6 children AND the 5 other parents outside this household that help make this work.
