Raise your hand if you have a hard time resting…me, me, I do!!

With an 1800 sq ft hose, 6 kids, a husband, a dog and various other responsibilities there is always something that I could be doing. Well, if there is something that I could be doing then I feel guilty if I’m resting.

I’ve learned just within the last couple of years that rest is something important to. It took me a long time to understand that just because there is something that can be done, doesn’t mean there is something that needs to be done.

After a long day working, cleaning, keeping up with the kids, running errands and preparing dinner I deserve to rest. My husband is different than me when it comes to this. He has very little problem coming home and relaxing the rest of the evening. He doesn’t put that added pressure on himself to get everything done around the house. For the record, he doesn’t put pressure on me to accomplish it either. I do it to myself.

Anyway, a couple of years ago I realized that sitting on the couch with my husband and my children resting in the evening is just as important, if not more so than any chores. I believed that I had all these pressures to get all these things done and I was the only one pressuring.

I need time to rest. I deserve time to rest. When I rest, I’m giving more of my best self to my family. When I test, then I am less resentful that I’m doing all the things while they are relaxing. No one was ever forcing me to do all the things, I was putting all of that on myself.

Take some time today to relax!!

  1. Very true. We put a lot of unnecessary pressure on ourselves to get everything done. Hope you take your own very good advice here to rest and relax šŸ’•
