I’m currently working on a Women of Valour bible study. Every morning I go into my YouVersion app. I read the devotional, the scripture and then reflect on it. Today’s study was really beautiful and I wanted to share.
The dictionary definition of mothering is explained as this: “to bring up a child with care and affection”.
By this definition their can be many individuals who play a motherly role in our lives. As women, if we’re lucky we’ll get to play that role in other’s life’s as well. This idea of becoming a physical Mother and/or a spiritual one is beautiful to me.
We know that the Proverbs 31 woman is a mother because it mentions her children. Though, that doesn’t mean she had biological children. I grew up with many woman “bringing me up.” My mother, but then some aunts, my grandmothers, my best friends mother and a couple very influential female ministers.
God provided me with a team of people. He sure knew that I’d need them and that they’d need each other. They are all still here for me and now I get to do some mothering of my own.
First of course with my six children. Then with my nieces and nephews. Lastly even with some wonderful children/ youth at church who come to me for love, support and guidance.
How have you been blessed with spiritual mothers?
